A Primer on Dental Ethics: Part I
Knowing about Ethics—a review of introductory concepts in dental ethics; based on an article in the Journal of the American College of Dentists. (1 credit hour)
Learning Objectives:
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
- Define the normative principles approach to ethics, including codes, duties, and rights, apply this approach to ethical issues in practice, and recognize common criticisms
- Define the character ethics approach, including virtue, care ethics, and aspirational codes, apply this approach to ethical issues in practice, and recognize common criticisms
- Define the consequentialist approach to ethics, including utilitarianism and the theory of the social good, apply this approach to ethical issues in practice, and recognize common criticisms
